We wanted to remind all Property Owners within our service area, we are approaching the start of our Annual Backflow Certification Program.
This program is vital to our service area as the purpose of the Backflow is to ensure the safety of your Drinking Water.
We have compiled a list of contractors who submitted paperwork and meet our minimum standards to work within the service area. Please be certain to check this year’s list before you schedule your annual certification appointment with a contractor.
We are unable to accept Certifications completed by contractors who have not provided the required documentation and have proven to meet our minimum standards.
In accordance with the Florida Administrative Code and Safe Drinking Water Standards, the Backflows must be tested annually showing the device meets minimum standards.
Every three (3) years, the devices are required to have a complete “overhaul” of the internal components of the device. Many customers fall within this category this year.
It is a requirement for the contractors to document the three (3) year “overhaul” was completed on this years report.
If customers have questions regarding their Backflow or the need for the device to be tested annually, please feel free to contact our office.
** The following is a list of contractors who meet our minimum requirements, please note there are important changes to the list, do not rely on prior year’s lists from our office as the list has changed:
Name of Technician Company Name Telephone Number
*This is in no way a recommendation or an endorsement by providing the above list of contractors. Customers must beware any problem arising from the inspection or certification will remain between the contractor and the customer.
In the event you choose to hire a contractor not listed above; the contractor must submit the following information to our office BEFORE performing service:
* Current State of Florida License for Underground Utility Contractor or Plumber.
* Current Certificate of Insurance showing enforced General Liability, Automotive, and Workmen’s Compensation (or Florida issued exemption card) with Orange Tree Utility as Named Certificate Holder.
* Current Occupational License – Per County
* Current TREEO Certification for each “Backflow Assembly Tester” and “Repair”
Orange Tree’s 2011 Certification Reports must be received by our office no later than October 31, 2011.
As a reminder, Orange Tree’s responsibility ends at the meter. We are unable to provide this service for our customers. The Property Owner is responsible for the maintenance and annual certification of the Backflow.
We are only able to accept originally signed and fully completed Reports from your contractor who meets our minimum requirements. We are not responsible for any civil matter arising between the contractor and the customer regarding the recertification process.
We appreciate your cooperation regarding this matter. If you have questions, please call our office 239-596-4088 or email us at customerservice@orangetreeutility.com
Sincerely,
Rita Richardson
